#road2expo – AtomTrace’s Vision for the Japanese Market

With EXPO 2025 on the horizon, the road2expo conferences in Brno and Ostrava offer a platform to explore new business prospects in the Indo-Pacific region. Among the key speakers is AtomTrace’s CEO, Jan Proček, who will share insights into AtomTrace’s expansion strategy and its alignment with Japan’s industry trends. To provide deeper insight, we bring you an interview with Mr. Proček on the unique potential of this market, the opportunities it presents for AtomTrace, and the strategic value of the upcoming EXPO 2025 in Osaka.

What opportunities does the partnership with the Czech participation offer you, and how are you preparing for the EXPO?

Opportunities are absolutely essential for us. We have partners in Japan, potential customers and ongoing discussions on applying our solutions in industry and science. That market is truly strategic for us in terms of our devices and their application. Japan is highly competitive, giving maximum emphasis to the digitalization of industry and is supported by advanced technologies. Additionally, it is a very conservative market when it comes to building trust and establishing relationships, even commercial ones. In other words, it is an extremely demanding market in terms of access and credibility, with long response times. We believe that the Czech presence—specifically, the Czech pavilion at the EXPO in Osaka—is crucial for us as a purely Czech high-tech company in this regard.

We naturally anticipate very frequent personal participation in Osaka. We are preparing in terms of organization, logistics, marketing, continuous engagement with the Japanese market, communication with our partner, and careful monitoring of emerging opportunities, particularly those we could actively capitalize on just before, during, and after the EXPO. Our commitment through all our efforts at EXPO is to truly open the Japanese market to our technologies.

Can you share any specific plans and goals you are pursuing in your business field?

The Japanese economy today is really characterized by the fact that it places enormous emphasis on structured and systematic digitization within a very short time frame. This affects a large part, if not all, of Japanese industry and aligns with the anticipated demand for the type of technology we can provide. With our equipment, we are entering a class of technologies that play a unique new role in achieving maximum efficiency and quality across nearly any modern manufacturing process.
In terms of industry, the automotive sector is currently the most interesting to us, including electromobility and everything related to its dynamic development, innovation, and rapid advancement. However, there are other types of industries in Japan where we have identified specific applications—we have, so to speak, irons in the fire. Finally, Japan is also extremely appealing to us in terms of universities conducting cutting-edge research for which our equipment is interesting.

What other business activities and opportunities do you see in East Asia?

At AtomTrace, we operate globally—in America, Europe, Asia, Australia, and now also in Africa. Our clients are present in all of these regions, including those we have already supplied to and those with whom we are in negotiation. Essentially, our clientele includes different entities, ranging from government institutions to private companies, and from scientific institutions to industrial companies. Regarding Asia, we have had a presence there for years, As for Asia, we have been established there for years, proportionally to the size of our company. We have contracts in China and Southeast Asia and two very strong partners in India and Indonesia. Strong in the sense that they have been trading complementary technologies to ours in those regions for a long time. So we feel quite solid in that area, but of course, it is always a matter of continuous, step-by-step work.
